North American artist B.A. Bliss has been a professional visual artist his entire adult life. Bliss started his career in the photography department at the Learning Resource Center at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida – his hometown. Bliss also was the chief photographer for a publication that covered all sports at the University of Florida. During that time, Bliss also taught photography at the University of Florida’s continuing education program.
Eventually his career led him to a daily newspaper, where he was an award-winning photojournalist in the Florida panhandle, shooting photo stories about everything from microsurgery of a cornea transplant, to ground crews working on fighter jets at Eglin Air Force base on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Bliss now resides in Orlando, Florida, where he concentrates solely on his art at BlissGallerie.
"I deconstruct the visual reportage to reveal the compositional truth, which lies beneath the surface..."
—B.A. Bliss
